I like playing along with Instagram challenges and games. Well, in the spirit of Halloween, Redbubble held a challenge in which Instagram users were encouraged to hashtag “RBPetMonsters” when they uploaded photos of their pets. In turn, the Redbubble community was encouraged to select one (or more of these photos to turn into “Pet Monsters”.
How could I resist?
Now things were going full-swing for me at work. I was neck deep in our AR project, and our annual Createathon was looming, but I found some time – during sleepless nights – to turn some of these cute little pets into cute little monsters…
The first little guy I got hold of was “Yoshi”. I turned him into “CAThulhu“.
I had a lot of fun making him, so the next night, I thought I’d try another one.
This time, a little doggie named Ladybird caught my eye, and I turned her into “Count Dogula“.
So I was off to look for something a little different than a cat or a dog.
I found this cute little hamster… I don’t know his name, but I turned him into “Mr. Hammie“.
I was having WAY too much fun with this!
I kept coming back to this fuzzy little grey kitten, who looked like he may have an alter-ego himself.
I turned this cute little fuzzball into “WereKitten“.
Now my workload was starting to get intense, but I kept coming back to this dog who posed with no shame…
I HAD to turn this little show-off into “ZombieDog“!
What did I learn from this experience?
1. Pets are cute… pet monsters can be a helluva lot cuter
2. You have to scroll though a whole lotta fonts, before you find the perfect asterisk to represent the “stinky star”.
